His numbers are HOF caliber. Like him or not he was one of the dominant hitters of the 90s and early 00s. What may hurt him is that most people think of him as a DH.

I definately think Big Hurt is a first ballot hall of famer. He has a world series ring. He was an MVP. Hes also the only player in MLB history to bat over 300 for 7 consecutive seasons and at least have 100 walks, 100 rbis, 100 runs and 20 hrs. Hes also one of few players to hit 30 homeruns in a season before the all star break. His career batting average of 305, and 466 home runs and 1507 rbis should be good enough to get him in on numbers alone. Not to mention he was a shoe in for the MVP in the strike shortened 94 season and had the White Sox with the number one record in baseball before the strike. Despite his mind boggling numbers he has never been mentioned in any steroid discussions as a potential user. In fact, the grand jury brought him in as a character witness to ask him about the problem in baseball. He was apart of the 20+ White Sox 4 or 5 years ago that refused to take steroid testing knowing that it would count as a positive test in an attempt to get the league average high enough to demand mandatory testing. A very noble move from him and his teammates who were trying to keep everyone on a level playing field. I think there is no doubt Big Hurt goes in on the first ballot. Despite his rocky departure Thomas still received a Jordanesque standing ovation his first trip back to Chicago in another uniform where he jacked 2 homeruns.

Maddux and Pedro are first pollmen. Thomas and Glavine both will be. they'd chop up the vote and both get left off. i do not have self belief there is ever been 4 first timers elected because the first actual poll. edit: Masternachos is genuine. Pedro heavily isn't on a similar pollas Maddux, Glavine and Thomas. With that information than i imagine all 3 will make it on the first poll. Maddux would undertaking Seaver for the utmost percentage of all time. Glavine received three hundred video games and Thomas had 500 homers. Kent will likely get in eventually considering he hit the most abode runs of any 2B in history. i imagine Mussina is borderline and could not make it. He in straightforward words led the league in W, ok, and era one time.

He's not a sure thing... He's a power hitter with less than 500 home runs. He has hit for average, but he's not Tony Gwynn, so I'd say Thomas is on the fence... If he gets in, it won't be on the first ballot. If he plays another season or two and gets the 500 hr mark, he'll probably get in, but in my mind it's questionable.

He'll get in, but not on the first ballot. His personal numbers are outstanding, but the team winning the WS while he was on the DL will hurt his legacy. Look for Thomas to be inducted on the 3rd ballot.

He's a DH. He'll have to wait a couple years, I think he needs the 500 HR mark first to get in, but thats me. I loved him to death here in Chicago, but he's fallen off since he was robbed for the MVP in 2000 when he lost out to the Juicing Jason Giambi.

Frank is a boarder line HOFer. If he ever gets in, it will not be on the first ballot. Of course he could play a couple more years and add to his credentials, then he would be a definite HOFer, and a boarder line first ballot

The only way The Big Always Hurt will get into the Hall of Fame is if he pays admission. Just doesn't have the numbers.

He belongs, but I think he will have to wait a few years. He gets in within five ballots.
