I always thought that the guitar solo in the middle of "Free Bird" by Lynrd Skynrd was the best I've every heard.

Anything by Gilmour or John McLaughlin (although he doesn't really Solo!)

But Comfortably Numb (the live version on Pulse) is an epic solo.

If you don't give props to Jeff Beck - "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" or Stevie Ray Vaughn's - "Riviera Paradise", you've never heard a guitar "cry".
