That vitally depends on what age we're talking about. Very young children shouldn't be prosecuted as adults for one simple reason - the area of their brains that controls inhibition ("should I do this or not?") is underdeveloped at a young age. We have no real-world understanding of action/consequence until we reach a certain age.
If you're talking about teens, then yes - they fully know what they're doing, barring any mental health problems - but that's an entirely different issue.

no, children don't know any better. They were born in this world and their parents are teaching them different meanings of right and wrong. If you see a kid selling drugs, and go to their home, to find that them and their parents live in a rundown trailor and their parents are smoking pot and don't have any money, and just let their kids run wild where ever they want to, you can't really wonder why this child has chosen to do what he's been doing. I can understand a punishment, but prosecuting children as adults when they've lived under all these different influences isn't right. The child doesn't completely know what they did wrong. He was brought up learning these ways and prosecuting them as an adult is punishing the child for what the family has done to them.

This is a hard question really if a child is protecting his self and gets done for hurting a another person do you think they should be done as a adult i really don't think they should
but if a child has grabbed a gun or knife to go and harm someone yes i do agree with him being done as a adult
i no i am contradicting my self here and the law would not work like that but that is how i feel you have youths out there that want to make a name for there self's i do be-live something has to be done
then you have the quite youths that get started on for being quite if they did hurt another person i wouldn't want to see them put behind bars because of a Bully

Depends on the crime and if you mean kids at age 17 or 18 they are very close to being an adult. Then yes they can possibly be tried as an adult. I guess he should of had better parents to teach him better. Get a good lawyer.

No. Kids usually think that they can take jail as an adult. But when they finally get there, they realize that they can't. So I say don't prosecute kids as adults.

they they were found to be reasoning like adults during the time of a crime. Usually this is around 17, and in extreme cases 16. But i dont believe its right most of the time. Since the nature of a child is folly.

It may depend on the maturity level of the kid. If he is old enough to understand what he has done, and to fully understand what the consequences would be when he did it, that is the adult standard for competency in a criminal trial, and I think he should be held to that.

yes, once they are 14 i belive its fine to charge them as an adult. They are in high school getting ready for the real world and if they screw up then they should oay. Kids always complain saying how they want to be treated as an adult so charge them as an adult as well
