My husband has not had any reason to think he may be infertile, but he is afriad he might have a low sperm count or something else that would prevent us from having a child.

We are going to start trying soon for a baby so he has been thinking about it a lot.

Are there an OTC tests to determine fertility?

What about going to his regular family doctor? Can he perform tests there?

Well, if your husband is afraid he might be infertile, he could either go to a reproductive endocrinologist to have a semen analysis done ( best thing to do ) or have an at home male fertility test.
Those are sold otc in any drugstore, cost about 35- 40 $ and are easy to perform.
Just follow the instructions and make sure he doesnt ejaculate for about 5 days before taking the test.
Also, you havent even started to try for a baby yet, give it some time :)
Good luck

Yes, there is a home test for male fertility. It is called FertilMARQ. Here is a website: http://www.babyhopes.com/fertilmarq.html

It would give you more info if you would have his sperm tested at a lab. Get his dr. to order the test and get a collection cup from the dr. or lab. Have your husband mastarbate into the cup either at home or at the lab. The dr. should be able to give you the results later that same day or the next.

Good luck!!

I actually saw an over the counter test for testing the sperm count. I think it was at Walgeens because I was thinking about getting it for my husband since we are trying to concieve. If I remember correctly it was near the preg tests and condoms.

So you guys haven't even tried yet? I wouldn't worry about fertility doctors right now, number one they are expensive and I think you guys should give yourselves at least 6 months trying first before seeing any doctors, RELAX!!!

Your family doctor would be the first port of call and can arrange tests at the hospital.......I am sure he is worrying unnecessarily but if it puts his mind at rest then go for it.

Good luck by the way :)
