You bought a race horse with no info? That sounds like an old movie, are you sure you didn't win the horse in a poker game?
Tattoos can be forged like anything else. Get a veterinarian to examine the horse and look up the tattoo.

if you can clearly read the tattoo you can go to jockeyclub.com. It will give you the option to look up the horse. You have to pay to get a copy of the horses' papers is very hard if you do not know the previous owner. i have delt with many OTTB's (off the track throughbreds) and to acquire a copy or the original papers is hard if you do not know previous owner. good luck!

You can contact the thoroughbred jockey club and give them th tatoo number. Also contact the track and give them the horses number. They will be able to tell you all of the horses stats- how many races he was entered in, placement, owner, trainer,
jockey, position, etc.- If the horse was indeed run at that track they will be able to provide that information.

You can order research on his pedigree from www.equineline.com. The history includes the race, pedigree & produce record of that horse.
$35 or $50.
How old is your TB? Mine was 9 when we got him and his tattoo was illegebal (luckily he still had his Jockey Club papers though lol) Good luck and Have fun!

yep the tattoo means he once belonged to a racer try and find out who the tattoo belongs to or if you see any horse with the same tattoo and ask the owner if he recognises the horse

Contact the track where he raced to find out his breed if you don't know it. You can then contact the breed registry and get them to look him up and send you papers for a small fee.
