In religion, marriage is a blessed sacrament between a man and woman to live in harmony and to propagate. Our creator made man in his own image. Woman was modified to handle the expansion issue.
Lesbians and homosexuals have attempted to emulate this life style, and with help from outside their partnership, they have been able to raise children from at least one of them. How healthy this is for the offspring remains to be seen. To say that some of these partnerships have not been successful in raising kids would be unfair. To say that most of these partnerships eventually fail, well that remains to be seen, too.
Whatever you choose to call this style of relationship, please don't call it a marriage. Marriage is what I and so many like me do and did. My Marriage is with a beautiful woman who is also the mother of our children. Children who share our genes, who share our physical characteristics, our blood, our mannerisms and our love. My marriage is unique to me , my wife and our family and I truly resent the gay community jumping in on our life style and calling their partnership a marriage. Its not and never will be a marriage, so please find another name for it. We don/t disrespect your need to have family and community, we simply want you to step back and call your relationship something else. It is something else. It doesn't resemble anything that we can identify with, for many hetreosexuals, they refuse to think about your relationships because it makes them uneasy.
For all those wonderful people who have adopted kids, please don't be offended by my earlier comments, this message is to the homosexual community who are, and choose to be seperate and different from the heterosexual community.

I think it shows that even in a liberal state such as NY - the majority of the people know that marriage is between a man & a woman. It shows that well known liberal states such as NY, Conn, & Vermont, even with all the liberalism may not be as openminded as the gay special intrest groups want them to be. Is it coincidence or morality that a liberal NY and a conservative GA rule the same way on gay marriage? Hmmm, I wonder!

It's good that someone still has the nerve to go against the majority, and attempt to sustain the sanctity of marriage.I commend them.We need more people to stand for what is right and take risk.I have nothing agaist gays, because I have no heaven nor hell to put them in.I believe in live and let live. When issues arise that are out of my control,I just pray for those that I think are lost and confused.Afterall, that's all one can really do about certain things. The world is so full of people who love anything that is not godly, and for the things that are, they fight and protest to change it.These are just the times we live in,and must go through in order for prophecy to be fulfilled.

They ruled correctly. However, it is up to the legislatures to change the laws and re-define marriage in the eyes of the government. The judiciary can only interpret the law and rule on it's constitutionality, not legislate. I think marriage should be re-difined personally, but that isn't the courts job.

I think it's a disgrace. I am a heterosexual female; as such, I have the right to stand beside the man I love and declare our intent to legally establish a household. Along with legal recognition of that household, I will receive a variety of civil and legal rights and benefits. The very idea that I have that right while other citizens of this country do not strikes me as a hideously unAmerican sort of discrimination.

I love it.
The US government shouldn't tell the states what to do. This is a great example of state's rights in action. Read the constitution if you don't believe me.
If you want to get married to a gay, move to Massachusettes. But what could you do if ALL the states banned it? You'd have to move out of the country. That's what's great about this nation. 50 states - you've got so many options.

I think its GREAT! Man didn't create the Law and Rule of Marriage so why or how can he change it? It's GOD"S LAW. Marriage is between Man and Woman.

i think its an abomination.....this is the first time in history of the US that rights are being TAKEN away from someone.
and to all you out there saying that "majority is making the rules". thats absolutly wrong. There are a few white old men in a room deciding what is right for the whole.
if it doesnt concern you, dont let it bother you. let them get married. it doenst un-glorify your marriage or your hetero-sexual relationships. get over it. be american. be fair.
