Imperial palace is a decent hotel they just remodeled the rooms. It is in the middle of the strip and they have a monorail station. Great location. Check out each of the hotels web sites for best prices.

Check out these Vegas sites they have great information on hotels, food, entertainment, attractions and what shows are playing and what is going on in Vegas during you trip. They also have info on free things to do in Vegas.

vegas.com
lasvegas.com
accessvegas.com

Also when you get there get a copy of What's On magazine it has coupons and other info. about what is going on in Vegas.

Have fun

By the way, What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas only works if there are no witnesses.

The Mirage. It's right next to Caesar's Palace at the center of the Strip. It's within walking distance of several casinos, clubs, bars, etc., and offers free rides to places off the Strip as well (in fact, try calling any off-Strip attaction because most will offer free rides to their locales). As far as price, you get a lot for what you pay for. The standard rooms are a lot bigger than most of the other hotels on the Strip, and you can even get one's with cool views of the pool or volcano.
They also seem to discount rooms heavily when they aren't booking well and during non-peak seasons. In January, my friends and I were able to get a two bedroom, two bath suite (1400 square feet) for only $300 a night just 3 days before our trip. That may seem like a lot, but it was a great deal!
Also, if you're looking to save money, ask if the casino offers any savings booklets when you check in. Most casinos do, and they can save you a lot on food! Have a great time in Las Vegas!

My suggestion is to skip the hotels and look for resort and timeshare rentals which are extremely affordable because owners book 12 to 13 months out and then find that circumstances prevent them from going. You can find some great deals on eBay by searching for timeshare rentals or Las Vegas timeshare rentals. (Make sure you search title and description.)

Jockey Club is right on the strip, Polo Towers is close to the action being a block off the strip on Harmon, and you will get many more amenities, (kitchen in unit, etc.), than staying at a hotel. The resorts do not have casinos which depending on how you look at it can have its advantages too.

Try Bally's. It is literally right in the middle of the strip, and you can get a room for around $125/night. Maybe cheaper mid week. If you ask for a strip view, you'll be able to see the Bellagio Fountains. I have stayed there twice and was more then pleased - newly remodeled, clean room, helpful staff. Also, Ballys is a monorail stop which makes going up & down the strip very convenient. Have a GREAT trip!!!!!

I just went in June and stayed at the new South Coast Hotel and Casino. It is just a little bit south of the Strip, but I had a rental car so it was like a 5 minute drive. The hotel is brand new, and it was very nice. The restaurants did not rip you off like some of the bigger ones on the Strip (ex. $8.95 for breakfast buffett vs. $24.95 at some of the bigger hotels on the Strip).

All of them are expensive because they are all so beautiful. Some of the less expensive ones are those that aren't very upscale outside. Stardust is one that is cheaper because it has no large fountains, no huge pirate ships out front or malls on the inside. It is however, on the main strip, and very close to the bigger and more beautiful hotels.

I stayed at the Stardust for my Bachelor party and we had a great time.

Maybe not the best but I like the Excalibur Hotel. Next to Luxor and next to MGM. All hotels are close now with the tram running to every hotel. Make arrangements directly with hotel, less expensive than travel agent.

The Orleans is a nice hotel and its probably closest to where you want to be. Sunset station is also a nice hotel and the prices might be what you're looking for.

good close ones are all expensive, the stratosphere is at the end of the strip and during the week its about 80 bucks a night i think, weekends are twice the price everywhere.
