Well actually I love bugs, Im an entomologist, so I love insects and I find them to be the most fascinating creatures on the planet. But Im here to help because I know that most people arent as keen on bugs as I am. You could always block off the balcony with a gazebo tent if you wanted to. That would definatly stop them from getting to you. Simple controls are also an easy way of ridding your yard of pest insects. Lets start with the wasps. Here is one trick of the trade... wasps do not fly at night, so that is the prime time to attack. You can buy any over-the-counter wasp and hornet spray, and soak the nest completely. This will kill them instantly and the next morning you can go out there and clean up whats left. You may notice some stragglers left behind, but you can dispatch them just as easy with anything left in the spray can. It is important to remove the left over nesting materials and then to close up any entrance holes under awnings, sidings etc. Caulking may be needed to properly seal any potential nesting sites. If it is only random wasps that are ruining your picnic, they sell wasp traps at all local garden centers, they are cheap and work pretty well.

Mosquitoes are a little more difficult to defend against, they are always around. The best defence is to put up a gazebo tent or you can actually do soemthing a little more decorative. Try placing those nice bamboo tiki torches around your balcony, and use citronella fuel, it works great at keeping those pesky skeeters away. I hope that will help you a little Good Luck!

I hate bugs too. Mosquitos, bees, wasps, spiders...and all the other nasty things crawling and flying around ICK!!!

Mosquito netting or any sort of screening would help if its possible to add to your balcony yes.

I also hate humidity...between bugs and humidity its a wonder I love summer

Well, the netting is less deadly than the wasp spray, so, yes, it seems reasonable to me. I hate bugs when they enter into my area, but their fine when they stay out of my way. They don't ruin summertime for me at all.

I really hate bugs!!! they are everywhere in the summer, a net would be a good idea, because bug sprays and repellants are sick smelling, spiders freak me out totally, if I even see one that I can't kill before I go to bed I can't sleep all night!

Its very reasonable, and works well.

Where I live the heat ruins summer as much as the bugs, but eliminating the bugs would be a good start.

Good luck!

I do not hate bugs...love em actually. I think it is concievable to put netting around the balcony. I think it would be better than killing off the insects.

Hate hate hate! Bugs, wasps in particular, are the one thing that make me go girly. I squeal, scream, shriek and jump around. I truly can't help myself.

i visit't stand the nice and comfy climate. that is sticky outside and it makes each and every individual smell pungent. I hate to sniff pungent. I can also't stand the insects, fantastically bees. I were given stung by using one for the first time very last year. i did not even worry it and it stung me besides.
