My boss says he can't keep me on. I would have to wait for awhile for me to be hired. In the meantime though, I have dozens of job offers but I like it here. What should my next step be?

You really have to ask yourself, is your old job worth the wait, and is the wait short enough that you'd be able to support yourself with out a job?
If not, I suggest getting a part time job, at the least, to tide you over until your boss can hire you again.
For me, job security is fairly important, I would not like to keep getting laid off every time the company starts having a hard time.
These are all things to think about. In reality, only you know what is right for your situation.

move on. There are other jobs out there that are similar.
