Why do blacks have a culture?

Why dress different, walk, talk, listen to different musice, drive black cars, wjy have a BET ? why if they want to be thought of as being the same as whites. And why keep that N word alive, they are the only ones useing it today.

Well, I agree with you there -- I don't like it when ANYBODY uses that word. Which is why I don't use it.

You know what? I'm part black and I don't blame you for wondering that.. There are music groups called "Sounds of Blackness" and they don't get in trouble, but if there was a group called "Sounds of Whiteness", they are automatically racist. But about the rest of the stuff, we like to wear what we like to wear, and talk how we talk because we just do, It's about how we are raised. Why do white people dress the way they dress and talk the way they talk? Because that's how they are raised, am I right? We listen to the music we like... Cultures are really based on where you come from, and this answers your question. Blacks aren't the ones who made themselves different than whites, if you think about, whites did, and we wanted to break away from that. I hope this helps you!!

Well, first off....not all blacks walk, talk, listen to different music, drive black cars, and have BET.

Second.....most blacks, I think, want to be respected and treated in the same way as whites.....they do not want to BE white.

As far as the N word, that I cannot answer bcuz I am not black.

Now one further comment......When I read your question, it became immediately clear that you must be a very ignorant person to ask that question. Good luck growing out of that ignorance.

Blacks were forced to have a different culture from slavery onwards. They were not allowed the same priviledges as whites. Even after slavery they were not allowed in most jobs or schools. So basically because they were segregated a different culture arose. Slavery only ended about 140 years ago, after existing for a couple of hundred years at least. Jim Crow laws only ended about 50 years ago, after segregation being enforced for hundreds of years. So it is only recently that the cultures are allowed to be together.

that's the way we are. what kinda question is this? why do white people dress different, walk, talk, listen to different music, don't watch bet? no black ppl ever said i want to be thought of as white. what we wanted was to be equal and have rights too. i don't agree with usin the N word in front of ppl if they r not black becuz it's just not comfortable for me. but that's what we call r friends and family. don't ask me y becuz i really don't kno why they insist on usin that word. but the N word isn't in my vocab. What a boring world this would be if we all walked,talked and looked the same way. All people have a culture,blacks are not alone. Who says they want to be the same as whites? I'm Latino(Mexican/American) and I have my own culture too. Notice I said CULTURE not RACE. There is only one race on this planet so far,it's called HOMO SAPIENS.
