I hope it isn't Condoleeza Rice. She is a war hawk like Bush and Company. In fact, perhaps that is why she is there: to be groomed by the Republicans to become a contender to Hillary Clinton and carry the Bush Administration forward after he steps down.
Hillary Clinton seems like a far better choice and I think she would be a good choice for first female President.
I personally wish we could find a good 3rd party candidate that would rise up and be a serious contender with the other two parties. It could level the playing field. Though, you have to wonder what kind of success they would have in Congress proposing serious change. But it would be a start and a monumnetal achievement. It would also help validate that our system is truly a democracy and not just an oligarchy.
Until other candidates present themselves, I would consider Hillary for President.

I'm ready. For the people who said "NO", are you seriously that outwardly sexist as to not even open the OPTION of a female president? We're not even talking about Hillary Clinton specifically if this is what's got your panites in a mess - we're talking about a friggin president who's breaking boundaries. Everyone thinks the U.S. is so radically tolerant - but we're behind the times. There are already women prime ministers and leaders out there. The president of the Phillippeans is a woman for example.
Get your head straight.

Female leaders have had success in many parts of the world, even paradoxically, in parts of the world that are chauvinistic, for example in Indian. Margret Thatcher was considered a great leader by conservatives during her reign over England. So as long as she meets the requirements of a job, I don't see why a female couldn't make an exemplary President. However, something about the political clout of Middle America, with its 1950s mores, tells me that the likelyhood of that happening in the next 20 years is highly improbable, especially for women who come across as too modern - like Condoleezza Rice or Hillary Clinton

I don't care if the President is male or female, as long as they are intelligent and know what to do and do things right!
No more of this, "Look daddy, I can be president too!" crap and allowing the vice president actually be the one running the office.
I think we're all ready for a good change, regardless.

I can't speak for the nation but I want to believe that we are beyond judging fitness for president by a person's sex or race.
As long as she has an agenda and political platform that I believe is in the best interests of America I will support a woman for president.

No. Most other countries do not respect women. They respect only men and will only deal with men. If a woman was president of the of the most powerful country in the world those countries we must deal with would have no regard for us and most certainly not for a woman president. They would thnk us weak for having a woman in the highest office in the land. Condi Rice would be more effective if she were a man because of this lack of respect for women.

Yes. Leadership is not a male or female quality.
Howevery, you've asked the wrong question. The better question is: Does a female or minority stand a chance of getting elected?
Sadly, the answer to that one is No.

Yes, but we won't get any until there's a decent selection of female congresspeople, supreme court judges, and senators.
Condoleeza Rice, and Hillary Clinton are not enough.

As long as it's a good candidate, I'd vote for a woman. I'm not biased. I honestly hope Hilary will run. That will make Bill the First Lady. LOL!
