A V type bike the pistons are arranged in away so that if your sitting on the bike the pistons are arranged in a such a way that the piston heads are near your knees. a Y-Type has the pistons hidden underneath the gas tank or parallel with the bike this will keep your knees away from the piston heads and allow easier streamlining.
