I'm glad you asked this question! I think that people on the outside of the BDSM sphere have some serious misconceptions about those of us who enjoy sexual fantasy.
There's is absolutely nothing wrong with BDSM. Being into BDSM does NOT imply that someone has issues, deep or otherwise. Simply put, BDSM allows consenting adults to engage in a deep, experimental and powerful sexual relationship.
The important distinction that some people seem to miss is that BDSM only occurs if all parties consent. If someone isn't consenting, then we are talking about assault, not a enactment of a healthy sexual fantasy. Even in situations where BDSM players engage in fantasies involving an element of "force," all people consent to the idea of being forced to do something.
If you don't agree with bondage or fantasy play, then don't do it. But please understand that there are many of us out here who do, and we enjoy it. We do not wish to be judged or censured by people critical of the fantasies we indulge in.
Happy spanking! :)

Well, to say you aren't hurting anyone is a little simplistic. Certainly actions between consenting adults are private and subject only to personal morals. However, if the action deadens your sensitivity to other human beings, you may be hurting yourself and your ability to love someone else, physically or emotionally, without there being some element of pain. Whenever we treat another human being in humanly, even with his or her consent, we become less human ourselves.

Absolutely nothing wrong with, hurts no-one unwilling.
As long as you do not allow unsuspecting people to view it, you have nothing to be ashamed of.
Not my scene as such, but I believe that when you are hurting no-one, do whatever you like.
Of course if you need medical treatment as a result of it, or any public service intervention then you should consider going a bit easier, not fair to use public services for something self-inflicted.

UK: It is a principal of British Law, that you can only lawfully assault someone with their consent, if no injury is caused (i.e. Common Assault). Any assault above this level, Actual Bodily Harm and upwards is unlawful even if the injured person consented. That is why Sado Masochism can be unlawful even if done in private and with consent...............
