While on a permit, you may only operate when the passenger seat is occupied by a parent or driving instructor. Some states will allow any licensed adult driver over 21 to supervise you and some states restrict this to parents or certified driving instructors.

You may NEVER drive unsupervised on a permit!

You can get your license when you meet all of your state's requirements for a license and meet the age requirements, normally 16 or 17. Once you get an unrestricted license, you may drive alone for the rest of your life.

Drivers ed is required in some states and will save you a bunch on insurance premiums.

it depends on what state you are in. in florida as long as you have had your permit for 1 year and you have taken a d.a.t.e. class(drug and alchohl class required for everyone under 18 applying for a florida drivers license.) after that you just go down and take the driving test. if you are not in florida you can search for your county or state dmv office online and find out. when you get your license you cannot drive from 11p.m to 6 a.m. when you are 17 1 a.m to 5am. untill you are 18 then you are ok untill you get your luicense you cannot drive without a licensed driver 21 years of age or older If you get caught you could lose the ability to get your license untill you are 18

far as i know (your state might be different)

you have to get supervised driving hours and record them, like 20 hours. once you've got those and you've had the permit 6 monthes, you can get restricted, where you can drive by yourself but only to school and can't take friends.

then you have to do like 30 more hours for a total of 50. when you're 16, you get the license. but drivers ed counts for 10 or so. you take your old permit in w/ your hours and they'll test you. unless if you took drivers ed, you can get out of the test.

it relies upon upon how subsidized up the state is. interior the state the place I stay, you pass in take a watch attempt and get your image taken and approximately 3 minutes later you walk out with your license in hand. It does variety from state to state. apparently that Ca. is fairly at the back of in mailing out drivers license in the present day. i think the time will variety even in Ca. possibly in the present day they do no longer look to be as undesirable yet possibly next week they may be way at the back of. i might say everywhere from 2-6 weeks returned observing the back log. in case you haven't any longer have been given them interior of say 4 weeks you likely might desire to call them and notice in the event that they have mailed them to you yet.

When you have a driving permit THAT MEANS you should always have a supervised adult in the car with you....Until you turn 16 and pass the written and driving test. Once you've conquered all that you should get your offcial card in two weeks.
