1. Make certain that you have several certified copies (10 is a good start) of your divorce decree, which contains your name-change information. Keep one copy with you at all times
2 . Go to the Dept of Motor Vehicles in your state.....mandatory!
3. Call Social Security or go to your local office
4 Get a new library card.
5.Apply for a passport
Those will keep you busy for a while. It is necessary that you have picture ID all the time with your new name. Good Luck !

Notify Social Security to send a new card in the new name. They will want legal proof. Then get your license changed. When you have these papers the rest is easy

get a new social security card then contact everyone u do business with to change it - if it is through adoption make sure you have at least one certified copy of the name change. if marrage u will want an extra certified copy of your marrage certificate. i would suggest contacting your health insurance company after social security ( some policies have a time limit to change names)
