Happiness, eternal! very good question. Let us try to understand what is happiness. It is not lack of sorrow, pain. When you are thirsty, you drink water, which make you relived of thirst. You become happy when you drink water while thirsty. Similarly, you can get happiness from different sources, circumstances like seeing a nice flower, talking to someone you love, etc.
Happniness is purely one of the states of your mind. Some people become happy even in acute pain (some cults preaches self torture, I do not want to elaborate as it is a religious issue).
To be happy is very simple, TRY TO FIND HAPPINESS IN SMALL THINGS. For example, when you are thirsty and able to drink water, be happy about it. While talking to someone close to you, be happy about it. When you smile, let it come from your heart, which may brighten up somebody's day. If you can smile, there is no better way to make others happy.
How to make self and others happy? I am doing it. Let me explain it. I am 41 year young (old?) overweight by 25 kg, still do not have any major health issues. I do not have any physical acitivities. But, I do something; smile, laugh and joke. Almost everybody likes me because of this. Anybody can do it. I do not take any sort of tensions. I am a responsible husband, father, son, brother, etc. and of course a good friend. Anybody in tension, pain, trouble, etc. contact me. May be I can give a piece of joke, if not an advice. It is awkward to talk about self. Forgive, if you can.
Try to think the positive side of anything, always. It is very easy to say, very difficult to practice. It is like watching the cookery show & actual cooking.
If you keep doing the good things, your spirit will spread to others. Remember one thing, life is like a rolling wheel, in which no point will be on top or bottom, it keeps changes. So, eternal haappiness for everyone is simply impossible. You can make many happy by just a smile.

I'd like to think that the thing that makes you eternally happy is the one thing that matters more than any other. Some people its their kids. Others work. Still others family and friends. Whatever you think it is.

there is no way to make everyone happy, some people actually seem to enjoy not being happy. It sounds strange, but I've known some like that. Always complaining, and looking for things to complain about.

Do the dances of universal peace. A lot of it is about sending love into the world to make all beings happy and all beings well.
Most cities have the dances of universal peace. It is not hard.
Sending the peaceful love to the world is the important part.
You should try it.

You can't. Some people are born with defective brains that don't make enough seriotin to BE happy.
Others are simply downtrodden, and don't KNOW how to be happy.
Still other people, have been abused- but governments, by parents or relatives, or maybe a religious organization- that prevent them from being happy.
Its a nice thought tho, I applaud you for it

i dont know how to make everyone happy but i do know how to make everyone not sad.
as saddness is a human emotion then if you wiped out man kind
then no-one will be sad
(im not suggesting to do this)
besides we as humans compare happiness to sadness one cannot exist without the other as long as we are alive and therefore u can never make everyone enternally happy.
unless of course u ae highly religious and belive heaven makes u enternally ahppy then the solution is send everone to heaven
(which sadly again results in death)

Everyone of us have a choice to be happy or not...For you...on a personal level...you can touch the lives of people around you...to bring a positive impact in their lives...like being a good friend to a friend...like lending a listening ear or give her support she needs...In good sense...Not support him/her in his/her drug abuse or something...
