You gotta love what the Wild have done. Picking up Demitra and resigning Gaborik is Huge. They have beefed up their defense with Carney and Johnsson and also have added an excellent winger in Mark Parish. The Wild are famous for losing 1 goal games and the added players should add some much needed scoring depth and some strength to the blue line.

Boston and Vancouver have been big winners, no doubt, but I think that so far the two teams that are +most improved+ are the Saint Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild.

The Blues so far have picked up the following:
Jay McKee from Buffalo - stellar defenseman
Doug Weight - returning to his former team to lead once again
Bill Guerin - another great veteran
Peter Cajanek - one of the lone bright spots on the team last season returns

The Wild so far have picked up the following:
Keith Carney, Kim Johnsson were two great d-men on the market and the Wild snatched 'em up.
Mark Parrish - he's yet to play up to his potential, but in the Wild's system may flourish.
Branko Radivojevic - young up and coming player
And finally the one they needed to hold onto:
Marian Gaborik - he's the heart of Minnesota, and only with him do they have a shot at climbing the standings next year.

being a leaf fan, getting hal gill and kubina made our defense great, now we need a scorer for sundin to be paired up with, we were thinking arrnot or elias but they found new team to go to already so i think its gonna be hard to find a good linemate for him, the best deal so far i guess would be coyotes picking up jovonovski, they didnt lose anything to get him and the addition wiill add grit for the team, plus jovo cop isnt even that old yet, at least younger than the other good defensemen out there like blake, not to badmouth him though...

As as Bluejackets fan, I really like the addition of Frederick Modin. Sure they're losing a good goaltender in Marc Denis, but it opens the door for a young Pascal LeClaire to get some more playing time and improve his skills. Overall, I like the move.

Boston getting Chara, Savard, and Donovan is the best so far. If they pick up Shanahan then they will just be scary. Of course I am a little biased.

Not to mention their new president's trophy winning coach or them signing Kessel. It's high times in Beantown.

Living in Phoenix, i see the Coyotes have been doing a good job of picking up some talent. They saw a humbled Roenick (off of a terrible year in LA), on the market for leadership, they picked up a great blueline pair in Jovanovski and Boynton, and signed a couple of tough guys for toughness in Laraque from Edm., and Gratton who came from Philly last year. They have a great core of talent in some of their young guys from last year, but needed a bit of size and strength to accompany them. Look out for the desert dogs to bring a little game to the frozen pond.

The Canucks. Getting rid of Bertuzzi and getting Luongo.
Bert was a distraction to the team.

Is there any truth to the rumour that Jovo wanted to sign in Florida until they traded for Bert?

And that Jovo and Bert don't get along?
