The "one thing" that one actually has the power to change about the world is oneself. When one changes oneself, no matter how small that change might be, the world changes a small bit also; and, more importantly, one's perception of the world and one's outlook changes a lot.

I just wish people would think before they said/did something. A lot of stupid things get done because people want to seem 'cool' or want to rise up in whatever they are associated with. People's feelings get hurt, sometimes severely and to the point of self-destruction.
I guess this isn't something I would change about the world, it is something I would change about the people living in it. If we could just have a little more consideration for the people around us, just consider the consequences for once, things might go a lot smoother.
I'm not advocating world peace here, although of course if it worked that would be nice. I'm just advocating... courtesy, thoughtfulness, and respect. It wouldn't take much, and I think we would live in a nicer place.

I would change the nature of humanity. Humans have gone a long way, developing new technology, adapting to the changing world (i.e. the Ice Age people), and so on. But to me, our very nature has too many flaws. I'm not saying humans must be infallible, but wouldn't the world be a better place if we could banish at least most of our greed, desire, and lust? If we could stop and think for a moment what we're doing to the world around us, not just ourselves. If we could rid ourselves of some of the evil in our souls, and instead believe in happiness and hope. If we could restrain from being cynical and pessimistic, despite the unfairness of life. In fact, the human nature is responsible for making the world seem such a harsh, merciliess place.

I would have everyone be christians, but not hypocrites, real people who truly obeyed gods word, then everything else would fall into place, but that wouldnt happen because the world is too full of sin, all we can do is change one life at a time to make the world a little better place then it was before we came to it. The world would still be full of sickness and disease because of sin in the beginning of the world, but all we can do is show people hope.

I would introduce fair and democratic principles for world government. This would make it easier to address problems such as global warming, international terrorisn and replacement of oil by renewable energy sources. Such problems worry ordinary people worldwide but cannot be addressed by today's leaders because of the undue influence of short-term vested interests.
Our political processes have not caught up with the global economy and information society.

One thing. Hmmm. I'd have the wealthiest 300 million people in China each send me $1. Ramifications? Not much for them. They can easily afford to part with a dollar.

I would want to change time. There are many questions in life that are still unanswered. By expanding time we would have a longer time of completing things and living life to the fullest.
