Yes, there are times when an excessive amount of money is vulgar. If there were to be a community fund-raiser, and the money was being raised by 'one dollar' contributions, and all donations were on public display with the names and amounts of money given, it would be vulgar to donate $10.00, and shamefully vulgar to donate $1,000.00. So, yes, there are times when too much money is vulgar. It is vulgar to display opulence when there are children dying of hunger every hour that we live. Wealth is not bad, but the public display of personal wealth is boastful, making it vulgar. Thanks for the question.

You have to remember that money is not the root to all 'evil'. It is about the person in control of the money. If the person is 'evil' then the money will be used for 'evil'. Just like guns don't kill people...people kill people.

In our world today, money is king as someone has already said on this site. If you give enough and try to find balance I think that there could never be too much money in this part of our history.

No amount is vulgar, it would be too much to give a five year old child 5,000 to go to the toy store. When a person has more than they will ever need, its time to donate to some worthy causes.

Actually I have to disagree with most of the other answers. If you have too much money you become a huge target for crime, kidnapping and stuff, as well as law suits. For most people I think 10 million is enough.

it's more what you do with it than how much you have.

For example, Gates has founded to Bill and Melinda foundation doing all sorts of good things. Then Warren Buffet who had about 1/2 as much did not do much good with his cash until he gave the bulk of it to the Bill and Melinda foundation.

There are sports stars who have 10s of millions and it is excessive. There are some who have made 100s of millions and are broke.

It's all what is done with it.

Money is a means to an end. Too much depends on how you use it. We are stewards of the Earth's resources.

I own a business. The profit made is to be used to bless the lives around me: the workers and my family principally.

A man who finds $20 and uses it to get his next high has too much money.

Vulgarity only comes to mind in the way it is spent.

I don't think money itself is vulgar- people are. It is what people do or do not do with money that makes it seem vulgar.

Vulgar is in the person, not the money.
