People suing tobacco companies because they smoked all their lives and got cancer. People suing McDonalds because they are fat. While I have no love lost for the tobacco companies I still feel that no one put a gun to anyone's head and forced them to start smoking. Ronald never forced you to eat 4 big macks every day. Why can't we think for our selves anymore.

The government is trying more and more to take responsibility for every aspect of our lives. Personal responsibility is slowly becoming a thing of the past.

a million) The component of non-public duty you're speaking approximately has been taken over by ability of coverage firms. If we mess some thing up, which all of us do, as long as we've paid our rates, the coverage corporation we pay seems after it for us, or a minimum of they pay many of the invoice, except we've been breaking the regulation, and that they might coach it. 2) No, all of us understand while we are being silly, we merely think of that we are able to escape with it, a minimum of this time. no person suggested that persons are smart, a minimum of i did not. 3) sure i think we are over policed. I even have confidence that we've too many regulations, a lot of that are way out dated and can be gotten rid of, yet we've not got provisions for reviewing saws to confirm that they are nonetheless smart. Is it nonetheless smart that a man or woman is breaking the regulation in the event that they kick a can thrice in a row? Or if our horse isn't good limited while we are actually not in attendance? yet regulations like the seat belt regulation are smart because of the fact it does remind us that if we don't placed on our seat belt we are greater in all hazard;y to die in a vehicle crash, a minimum of that's a regulation that does take our superb activity under consideration. not in user-friendly terms like the anti entertainment drug regulations that are just to maintain the liquor agencies in company.

these are mainly urban legends.
the court case to sue mcdonalds was thrown out.
I think the only people who are successful against tobacco are ones who smoked before there was a warning label.
cigarettes are not just tobacco. there are ingredients to make them MUCH more addictive and cancerous.
I WISH the biggest things we had to worry about were a few silly court cases, that would be paradise compared to what is really going on. turn off talk radio and open your eyes, these are not the real problems.

Until the judicial system develops the intestinal fortitude to look at these frivilous lawsuits, and say "Enough is enough", and start dismissing them as quickly as they are filed, people will continue to sue over everything. I know a case where a drunk driver passed out at the wheel, ran off the road, hit a tree, and had to have his left leg amputated. He sued the bar for serving him, and won, and also sued the County road district for "improper road maintenance" because there wasn't a guardrail at the curve, and won that one also. Go figure!!!!

People can think for themselves. The problems is they've been taught that it's not their fault. Every time you turn around there's someone in the public eye conversating on how no one is at fault for there own actions. The public isn't allowed to point at someone who's whining and say "hey you knew the facts yet you continued so deal with it" so instead, they look around for a way out. The parents, the games, the music, the movies, etc, its neverending. So sad.

I totally agree people are morons if they don't know McDonalds is bad for you or Didn't know the coffee was going to be hot! it is pathetic but I will say the suits did prompt more warnings on Cigs and nutrition information, but idiots can't read so there will be more BS law suits.

Law made it possible to sue for anything. These people knew what they were getting themselves into the second they popped the burger or tobacco into their mouths.
Next, you'll have meth users suing the lab owners. Don't think that situation will be any good for either of them.

Bush’s strategy to privatize everything increases the risk of market instability, which falls heaviest on the laboring class. Thus, his view that market opportunity spurs personal responsibility distorts economic reality.

Greed for money promised by lawyers has taught us to never ever accept responsablities!!!
Gee, I could go to your house, rob you ... get shot by you ... and then sue you for mental anguish because there is a silver tongued lawyer who's going to do a great job of making me the victim ... it never pays $$$ to accept responsability!!!
