This is a tough question and I like most of the answers but no one has mentioned George Best. He was amazing even though he had a major alcohol problem. Makes you wonder how good he could have been if he wasn't hammered all the time?
Good Best Quotes:
"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered."
"Pelé called me the greatest footballer in the world. That is the ultimate salute to my life."
(On David Beckham) "He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's alright."

I think its Pele just because of his pure class and the way he could score goals with ease but if Ronaldinho carries on playing like he is i think he could become the best player ever

Ronaldinho does not play like he used to. We've had some great players other than Pele and Maradonna. Here's a list to consider Lineker, Barnes, Mathias, Rossi, Schumaker, Ronaldo.

Maradona...he proved you don't have to be big to be a legendary football player. He did all us short fellas proud. His celebrations were something to behold and still are. He still turns up to all the games and celebrates with the rest of them. It's great to see that time hasn't dulled his passion for the great world game.
