Yes, when you pour a little bit of boiling water on the snake it will think that something is hurting it and strike it. It will obviously strike itself because it is only water and it does not understand that. Only rare species of snakes are venomous enough to kill itself...Hoop Snakes have been known to do this.
I can only assume this is a hypothetical question, but if you are going to try it...I hope the snake bites your leg and you spill the boiling water on your groin. Then you fall to the ground and the snake watches as you die a slow and painful death. Then he eats you!

truth, when a snake reacts to sudden heat/cold changes they will twist into a knot unvoluntarilty and bite at themselves. I do not believe that a snake is hurt by it's own venom only in rare cases. I saw a corn snake that was cold and a buddy dropped it into a bowl of just warm water and it went nuts twisted around and started biting itself. It died like three days later. He was an idiot. It is a nerve reaction kinda when like you lop ones head off they go nuts.

Lie, the scalding would incapacitate it most likely, although in rare cases, it may survive the initial burn and strike quickly against its offender, therein accidentally biting themselves, although, snakes are immune to their own venom so that can't be the cause of death. Note that is not likely that they would hit a lethal region if this did occur.

Snakes arent immune to their own venom. Why do you think snakes wrestle each other instead of just biting each other during battles. There would be 2 losers.
I wouldnt mind trying that to see what would happen. I would have to take some precautions, but hey it would be amusing.

I don't know about that, but once I sprayed freon on a rattlesnake and it froze solid. I picked it up and dropped it and it broke into hundreds of pieces.

well i hate snakes but as far as i know they are immune to there venom.. so i think that throwing hot water on them will just make them mad and want to come bite the crap out of you.. it might burn there skin though. that will probably kill it.. i know it will scare it and they are known for rolling up in a ball. and sometimes biting them selves but that will not kill them cuz like i said they fight with each other and don't die... i am sooo afraid of snakes... one time we ran over rattle snake it rolled up in a ball and it took like 4 runs to kill it so they are pretty though to kill..

What sick person came up with this theory? If someone tried this its a pity the rattle snake did not strike them instead and kill them.

he's asking if it would bite itself as a result of the hot water, not if the water would kill it. I never heard of that though, so I have no idea.
