Go to Wal-Mart or K's Merchandise. Buy a Pool table (around $200-$300) and have it set up when he gets home. In addition, when he walks thru the door, you should be laying on top of it, either in au natural or in lingerie(whichever turns him on most). If you choose lingerie, make sure you wear heels. WE LOVE THAT!
My wife did this for me for our 5th anniversary in March, and I still have fantasies about that view of her on the pool table.

Traditionally, one year anniversary is paper. Paper was set as one year. They seem to think one year marriage's are building there fortune, so that's why it's paper. Here are some idea's:
Ticket's too anything
If he has his own business or a salesman:
nice business card's, day planner w/initial's engraved
If, he like's writing a journal is nice or
Nice book if he like's reading.
You could alway's do other thing's if you like.
I gave my husband a few paper item's for his business. then we went to dinner and had a romantic evening at home.

If you can afford a weekend trip to his favorite place that would be sweet. I f you are on a budget how bout a day of his favorite things, with a happy you. Like, golf in the morning, sex in the afternoon, and dinner at his favorite restaurant that evening. I think sex is always a man's favorite gift LOL.

My moms says paper is the thing for 1 year. That could be money, gift certificate, stock, bond, etc.
Guess you're looking to giving him something personal - how bout a weekend away at some lodge or something.

Wrap yourself up in a cute ribbon and greet him at the door when he comes home. Happy anniversary. Seeing as paper is the gift for the first year I don.t think you can go wrong

I would reccomend getting a hotel room, dress yourself in his favorite style of lingrie, and have the room key delivered to his work, or have him meet you there...that's what I would do. But if he's a total golf nut, or has a favorite team, buy him a couple tickets- but don't be dissappointed if he asks a friend to go to the game instead of you. It really depends on what gets him excited.

The best gift would be something you made yourself. I had a woman take cut-out letters from magazines and a DVD cover to make me a Christmas card. It must have taken her hours and it really was impressive. I will keep that forever.

Take him to dinner at the place he proposed (if it was a restaraunt) or a special place with memories for you two. Take a visit to the church you got married in. If possible spend the night in the hotel you went to on your wedding night.
Basically do the best you can to re-enact your engagment and wedding day...and tell him you still do.
