Today I turned on my 20" iMac G5 and I saw smoke coming out of the computer. The fan came on very loud like a jet. Then the screen was flashing and I smelled something that was like burning rubber coming from the computer. I am now concerned that if I turn on this iMac again and leave it alone it will catch my house on fire. Has anyone heard of problems like this one.
Thanks

No.. but from personal experience if you smell burning from a computer.. do NOT turn it back on.. i almost burnt down my sorority house that way. You should probably call the computer manufacture, depending on how old it is the warranty might still be in effect! :)

Sounds like you should get that iMac to therepair shop or better yet upgrade to a PowerMac G5 with a tower because towers are the best at keeping cool and plus you can add-on hardware much easier with towers than with the iMac.

No I haven't but I certainly would not turn on the computer again. Better take it and get it checked out by an apple service department. If it is new, I would contact apple immediately.

No, but you should call apple tell them what happened and they will give you a new one because of the limited warranty on it tell them you did nothing but turn on the copmputer and it started smoking
