What kind of iron? For golf the popular answer would be Titanium. Or are you curious about plating something made out of iron? I would have to ask what it is you intend to plate first.
And just for the record stainless steel and titanium are an excellent conductors of heat, they don't make all those pots and pans out of them for no reason at all!
For clothes Irons most of them are already built with a stainless steel sole plate! But you probably already know that if you went on wal mart dot com like the other lady suggested! LOL

None of the above, titanium, stainless steel or nickel will not transfer heat well, just go to Wallmart and buy the cheapest iron they make and see what it is made of. Everything is dispensible anymore and made to throw away if it tears up. Why worry?
