the US keep saying that it will take time for them to get the hang of it but its not going to happened they had Football (soccer) for the last over a 100 years the finished 2nd and 3rd in the Olympics in 1904 behind Canada lol... and finished 3rd in the first ever world cup in 1930 Uruguay they have never gotten any better and use the excuse that its hasn't been around long enough well it has and they just don't get any better. when they lose that's there excuse and like they lost to Italy and Ghana they blame it all on the refs or on FIFA cause they think FIFA is against them they suck at everything the biggest sport is Baseball and there not even the best at it anymore they are full of south Americans and Japan won the WBC football is for 400 lbs guys that cant move and there's a whistle every 2 seconds to stop the play so they just cant take it losing so they come up with excuses period. Considering the best athletes don't play soccer, they do a helluva lot better than, say, British athletes at baseball, basketball or (ice) hockey. Hell, the USA beat Engalnd 1-0 in 1950 at the World Cup Finals!
The USA does OK given soccer ranks at best maybe 5th among team sports, if that.
Personally, I think Land of Eng sucks at soccer. Remind me when was the last time your best athletes in your most popular sport even got to a Final of a major soccer tournament.

Because US can't be the best in everything.
By the way, Football was created by the English, US trying to impose its will over all the others tried to call it "soccer", but it's the only country that call it that way.
There are no enough fans for football here, because there are other pro sports with so much more tradition: Baseball, Basketball, Hockey and American football.

I think the US has come a long way in soccer. This was a poor showing, but I think overall the quality of players has improved. We will get there if we stick to the game, and export more players to EPL, Serie A, Bundesliga etc. We need to play with the best to improve the game in the states.

well our guys have huge ego's. our team is basically still knew compared to other teams. men's soccer has been around a very long time and other countries have been playing longer then we have. I think that in about 20 to 30 years we'll have a good team.

Apart from the World Cup in USA, there hasn't been much focus on this sport in USA prior to that. The men's team has lots to catch up with the rest of Europe. But the women's team are currently one of the best in the world.

Because most of our talented athletes gravitate towards football and baseball when they are young. Where as in other countries soccer is the national sport and most athletes gravitate towards that sport.

because athletes see they can make more money in basketball or football than in soccer so that leaves less athletes that want to be soccer players.

we're playing the wrong game. we're playing soccer while the rest of the world is playing football. also the us team has bulging bicep muscles which obviously won't help in football

Because we have very few kids that play it from a young age at all times, like most of the other countries.
