I have just finished an extensive search on the Priory of Sion and have found nothing on its existence in the current time in history. The research that I have read indicates that the Priory existed into the 1980's but there have been no indications of it since. If you find out something new, please let me know! While looking on the web for info on the Priory, I ran across an article that stated that at one point, the Priory changed its name to the Order of the Sion. Hope this helps. You can also check out this website that I ran across: www.ordotempli.org/priory_of_sion.htm

4. What is Opus Dei?
A conservative religious group within the Roman Catholic Church. Opus Dei urges priests and laypeople to strenuously pursue sanctification through everyday discipline. The group has taken criticism for its conservative views, zeal, and secretive practices. There is no evidence that Opus Dei has resorted to murder; nor has the Vatican entrusted Opus Dei to violently guard the church's deepest secrets, as Dan Brown claims in The Da Vinci Code.
5. Does the Priory of Sion really exist?
Yes, but not as described by Brown. Researchers suspect that members of the real-life Priory of Sion, founded in 1956, forged documents that placed major historical figures—such as Isaac Newton and Leonard da Vinci—in an ancient secret society. There is no evidence for this group beyond dubious documents. Any story relating this group to a dynasty begun by Jesus and Mary Magdalene is a fanciful work of fiction.

Most everybody here is correct, The Opus Dei does exist, the knights templar, and the priory of sion do as well. They make for some fun history lessons if you look into them. Many of the books sited in Dan Brown's novel can get you some good info.

Yes, an actual Priory of Sion exists. And it has been rumored that the founders from the book was also true. But what they are involved in and even what and if they're hiding, is a mystery. They're pretty much an underground group and their secrets are not known. And I'm not sure we're going to get any actual proof until a long, long time from now.

All the groups, Opus Dei, Knights Templar, and the Masons are real groups. While many of these groups today are simply charitable organizations, their stories of their existence and power are well documented in their history. If you take the Knights Templar, they are known as the protectors of the Covenant of Christ. What it is and how it works is unknown. But they are said to hold the key to Christ real life. Today they are regular people that join as a way to give something back to society.

the movie is over 80% lies. Like the book. The priory of sion existed in only one way. some idiot in the 60's made up a list of its members and planted it in some library or church. When it was found people thought it was real till he told otherwise.
Templar Knights did exist, Masons do, I forgot about Opus Dei.... they used to but don't anymore.

There were several different societies mentioned-only two exist today-Masons and Opies. Some that are mentioned are fictitious or based on ones that existed in our history. Whether they exist today is not known unless you are member.
