Both sides were pretty poor; once France scored they were only interested in defending their lead, which I guess is understandable but Portugal were just not capable of creating a real chance and had to resort to trying to con the ref. Christiano Ronaldo's big dive in the penalty area was so obvious it was laughable, and maybe he should have been booked for that.

The ref had an ok game; not great but not too bad either...he was fair to both sides but kept stopping the game so it wasnt good to watch. France's penalty was a definite foul and was the correct decision.

France were technically superior and defended well, so deserved to win. But they'll have to play like they did against Brazil in the previous match if they are to stand any chance of beating Italy in the final.;

It was a weak call. The ref should have signalled play on rather than calling a penalty.

The officiating through out the tournament was weak. More cards should have been issued to the flappers. Remember the call against Australia, if that wasn't a dive I don't know what is, and what about the two red cards the US got, not that the US would have won, but the calls were pathetic.

I DO! that ref really needed to get jumped! like even the coach of portugal when up to them and said something of writing them up! portugal never really had enough time with the ball because of them! but u know what i hope FRANCE LOSES! they've been really lucky and now italy needs to show there best on sunday ( ithink)! so yea i think i said enough!

The ref was good man.. Portugal just couldnt finish their opportunities!

Im pissed France won, and even more pissed that they won in a penalty, because had a just as bad offence. all I know is there is no way france will score a goal on Italy

i dont know about bein robbed and all that, but if i was the ref and was handling such an important match, i wouldnt have given out the penalty to henry that easily. it sucks to see a great team (portugal) lose becuz of a silly penalty kick, which i have to admit was taken very beautifully by zidane. both team's strength was equal. the match could have at least gone to extra time. its sad that portugal had to lose this way. but at the same time, portugal did us proud. they played superbly. and thats all i need for now.

Yes, yes. I was really hoping to see a non-penalty goal from either side. Portugal had a good chance with the Figo header but it's a shame he missed.
I didn't see ref communicating with Domenech though.

Pot calling kettle black.....the referee was fair and unbiased. Because he didn't fall for the ridiculous Olympic standard theatrics from the dirtiest team in the game...he's accused of siding with the French. The only thing the ref did wrong was not book or send off any Portuguese......

No, Portugal are the biggest babies. I don't know how many time Ronaldo, Postiga and the rest of the Portugeese were diving in the penalty box. France got tired of it. And Carvahlo got beat in the penalty box.

i saw the video again tonight and the commentator said that the incident with thierry clearly deserved the penalty. i won't say it's an expert assessment cuz' i don't know that. but from what i saw, the ball slipped away in the tackle and when thierry went after it, the leg of the portuguese player (forgot his name) came up and caught thierry's, causing him to stumble. it wasn't a simulated fall, and if you think that the incident didn't call for a penalty kick, that's debatable isn't it? maybe from the vantage point of the referee, the incident called for a penalty. i think it's a bit unfair and perhaps self-serving to say that the ref was taking his cue from domenech on that one. i don't think portugal was robbed. they lost because maybe their antics and penchant for rough play finally caught up with them. karma as they call it in the east.
