The reason you see that is cause the part after the "?" is a variable storing some info, it could be either as said before me, where you are coming from on the net or could be your preferences, login info, selected choices on a form as you move on etc etc

They're called GET Variables, and they're used to send data from one page to the next, or just set data for a web page. ^^

It tells them where you are coming from on the internet and customizes their page for you.
