When you realize that you'd rather play baseball than eat. You'd rather field grounders than go out with your girl. You'd rather take batting practice than spend a week at Disney World. You'd rather run the bases than win the lottery. If you feel all these things you'll make it.

Absolutely none. It takes plenty of HGH and a few hours a week in the batting cage.
It's not like we're talking about baseball in the 60's or the 70's... or even the 80's here....
You know... where elite players were expected to hit for average... catch and throw the ball well... run the bases...
Forget all that. All you need to do is hit the ball over the wall 40 times in 600 at bats... somebody will pay you to play DH. If you actually manage to bat .300 in the process... they'll give you a cool nickname like "Big Papi" and whine when you don't win the MVP... despite not even really playing in the games.

Lots of dedication and lots of luck. There are players all over the minor leagues that are at least as good or better than some of the guys in the big leagues, but if you are a power hitting outfielder on a team that doesn't need outfielders, then you're out of luck... If you're a promising young pitcher who blows his elbow up in the minors, then you're out of luck... Dedication and Heart are big factors, dedication alone won't do it for you.

You need a ton of dedication. You have to work hard on all aspects of your game. You also need a lot of talent. Generally, scouts will only take a look at players who possess excellence in at least 3 of the 5 major categories. The categories consist of hitting for average, hitting for power, range, arm, and speed.
Minor league players don't get paid that much..so going to the majors and getting a big contract is their ultimate goal.

you can have all the dedication in the world but if you are not good enough according to mlb's standards then you will never make it. I mean its up to the scouts to go out there and find someone who meets what they are looking for. So you have to be real good at what you do.

Depends on your natural ability. Everyone in MLB worked to get their, but people with natural ability don't have to work as hard as, say, Joe McEwing or David Eckstein. Those types of guys have to REALLY bust their butts. Guys who have tons on ability still have to work, but not as hard.
And the vast majority of people, no matter how hard you work, will never get to the MLB.

You should consider it a blessing if you even get to play minor league ball. A lot of people play minor league ball and never make it to the pros.
