I have heard of the Gratefull dead. My dad is the biggest "Dead Head" ever! I was brought up listening to their music non-stop during car trips. I'm not surprised that they sold so many tickets. They filled 60,000+ stadiums during their tours through the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Their music was a great alternative for disco in the 70's as well. ROCK ON!

A great start, Is buying their Live album Europe 1972. They have a hippie reputation, but there music is much more than that. I used to hate them when I was young, then I was turned on to them by a friend in college. True, it is not for everyone, but keep a open mind. They are amazing musicians.
