I've heard that D/FW, Charlotte, and Birmingham are awesome!
Not a big fan of Atlanta, but I know a lot of people are.

I like Memphis too; well, I like the north Mississippi area better than Memphis proper, but you still have the river, Beale Street, Peabody, and some rockin' museums.

Houston was o.k., so is Ft.Worth, Texas also now I live in a small town in Arkansas. I love being here. But you know, the best place to be, is where you are happy & content. And you never wish you were some where else. I love the southern states and most all of the people. Southerns are just plain ole folks. God Bless.

You have to tell us your criteria.
The Raleigh area of North Carolina (Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Morrisville, etc..) has consistently been rated in the Top 10 of the safest cities, best cities to raise a family, and the best cities to have a business. They also have the highest concentration of PHDs to population.
OH! and due to the area having about 5 major universities, it has also been rated one of the best places to be single.

D/FW has so much to offer! All the cities are beautiful and the people are so friendly. There's not a best southern city...but D/FW just has so much there.

Nashville is over rated. but i live in Austin and its GREAT and my next favorite Texan city is San Antonio

Savannah, Georgia is the most beautiful city I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot of towns here in the U.S.A and outside.
