You left out the 'Hunh!' after WAR! And the 'y'all' after Good God!
But here's the depressing part. Considering how often man has been at war with each other, maybe peace is the aberration.

EVERYBODY, no matter how pacifist you are, believes war is justified under some circumstances. That includes you. I bet if Afghanistan sent people with guns over here to enforce Muslim law and make all women wear burqas, you would expect our police and military to protect you. (What is that called again? Oh yeah, war. Don't tell me that in the name of peace you'd roll over and give up your rights to vote, drive, watch movies and expose your wrists!)
Does that sound outlandish? Why? This exact scenario has played out multiple times, except that the United States wasn't on the receiving end. It's happened in the Middle East, Rwanda, Bosnia, it's happening right now in the Philippines, and even France and Spain. It doesn't happen in the United States precisely because we have a top notch military. Several middle-eastern countries have publicly announced their desire to impose Muslim law on the entire world, including the United States. And when this kind of thing happens to another country, as it has many times, are other countries justified in helping out, or should they sit back and let the smaller countries get bullied?
War exists because it needs to exist, and every single war in the history of mankind has been fought for reasons that both sides felt were important.
There are other ways to settle things, and those aren't ignored. Every day thousands of conflicts are settled without war. The current issue with North Korea may well be settled without a war. Remember when an American spy plane was clipped by a Chinese fighter jet and made an emergency landing in China? China arrested the pilots and confiscated the plane. According to international law that could have been considered an act of war, but we resolved it without war. We spent years staring back and forth with the Soviet Union and it didn't end up in war. The Cuban Missile Crisis? No war. And those are just the big ones. Conflicts get resolved peacefully every day.
War is, and will always be, a last resort. But it will never go away, nor should it. I challenge you to find a solution to the problems of the Civil War that would have satisfied both sides and NOT lead to war. Study the positions of both sides before responding. Have you thought of one yet? Nope, that one won't work. If there were any solutions you can think up, I guarantee somebody else thought of them and proposed it at the time. NOBODY wanted a war, and everybody was looking for peaceful resolutions. There were compromises and agreements that delayed the war by decades, but it came in the end.
Saying that war would vanish if people just put their guns down is dangerously naïve and woefully ignorant. War will happen.

War good for absolutely nothing? Tell that to the Jews that were rescued to from the Nazi death camps. Tell that to the people of the Philippines who were being terrorized by the Japanese army. Tell that to the victims of Saddam who endured his rape rooms. Yes war is a terrible thing full of sorrow and loss but sometimes the alternative is much worse.

Mankind is naturally prone to argument and disagreement. Indian tribes have fought with one another for eons, so have primitive mammals. The problem is that as humans become more advanced, their level of destructive force increases with each conflict. In order to counterbalance one another, good and evil must always fight, reach a climax, and end in a resolution. Our literature is based upon it, and so is our culture. It is human instinct to insight war, and at the same time it is that same inclination that will stand up for justice.
War is essential to maintain stability and solve the most horrific of issues. Evil will never quite, and therefore there are those who must defend against it for eternity.

The winners get slaves and can write the history books. we can make a fortune on govt contracts rebuilding stuff. It gives military a chance to get promoted and decorate their chests with medals.
The defense contractors get richer and provide jobs to poor slobs too sick to get drafted or too smart to enlist.
it can spread freedom and democracy throughout the world and bring the message of Jesus Christ to the pagans, heathens, and muslims. ( peace and love) It eliminates enemies that may attack us.
it is fun and we get to wear cool uniforms and use our computer game skills for real.
We get to rape and pillage.
There are hundreds of things war is good for.
Just ask any good republican Christian.
Without war we would have to rely on democracy and that is dangerous.

WAR! It ain't nothing but a heartbreaker,
War. Friend only to the undertaker.
Ohhh! War is an enemy to all mankind,
The thought of war blows my mind.
War has caused unrest within the younger generation
Induction then destruction...who wants to die?
