Yes it is true that excersise can break the hymen. I have heard that tampons don't go in far enough to break it, though I'm not sure if that's true or not.
Unfortunatly the presence of hymen is the only way for sure to tell if a woman is a virgin, but absence of it does not prove that she's not a virgin. It's sad that some cultures still believe this.
Personally, I'm married now and I couldn't tell you when mine broke... I played sports and all that kind of stuff. It never hurt never bleed. I also didn't bleed the first time I had sex. My advice to you is, hopefully you'll marry someone one day that loves you and trusts you and believes in you. Hopefully this man will know your character and will believe that you're a virgin when you say that you are.

It's rare that it would break with exercise or tampons. I can't believe that myth is STILL around! Some women don't have hymens, so they won't bleed when they lose their virginity. If you're really worried about it, you can have your gyno or regular doctor give you an exam and tell you if your hymen is still there or not. You may want to discuss these issues with you doctor while you're there!! Even have them give you something in writing, if need be!
As for if you feel it break, no, not really. I bled when I first had sex, but it wasn't heavy or a big gush. It was a light periodic bleeding and it was done that day. You may bleed the first few times you have sex, but that's normal.

I broke mine by falling off a tricycle. I landed straddle of the bar that holds the seat. It hurt a little and I bled some. The hymen is right at the entrance, it is not up inside. At least my husband believed me that I was a virgin. You had better use the smallest tampon size they make. I know my girls cannot use tampons because they are too small.

Yes that is a big issue in many cultures. Presently, in France and Germany, women are going to doctors to get their hymen repaired in an attempt to recapture their virginity. It's gone of course, but only you and your doctor know for sure! Moreover, doctors are providing certificates of virginity along with the advise to have a small vial of blood to spot the bedsheets afterwards, for your husband and world to see that you are/were indeed a virgin on the honeymoon. Those are ideas for you to use. You can rip your membrane in many ways - all not related to sex. As you said, horse back riding, sports, masterbation, to name a few - anything that stretches that area sufficiently will do it. So, word to the wise, get a small bottle of blood and/or see a surgeon for repair. In Europe, costs range from $500 to $1250. I read that this morning!

I used tampons for YEARS before and I was really active such as riding bikes and horses and blaying sports (all thing I have heard that would break it) I had sex and I still bled. Not alot... enough to make a little stain in my underware and leave a little blood on my boyfriends condom. I think that the penetration of the penis is what would really break it I don't think tampons go up for enough.
