Drinking and driving isn't illegal. Driving drunk is illegal. There's a huge difference.

But more to the point, why would suspect he's driving drunk? If it's just a hunch, maybe he's entertaining the notion of reporting you to the police for your meth lab he suspects you've got cooking in the basement.

This whole business of reporting your neighbors for whatever that's being promoted by the government is really disturbing. Reminds me of the following:

"He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother." - 1984

Yes, but there isn't much they can do about it unless they are caught drinking and driving.

If you see your neighbor doing it, and they can be caught in the act, you can call the police immediately and anonymously. PLEASE, do it anonymously. Remember, you have to live next door to that family.

Also, if they do it at a regular time you can probably tell the police "They do it every Saturday at 1am! It's like clockwork!"

Another thing to remember, and I really hate saying this one... :( If driving is their life, you may be pulling that out from under them and their family. It is a concequence that *is not* your fault, but it is one.

Here is an interesting thought. Maybe you could put a note on their mailbox or something saying you know they are driving drunk and if you see it again you will report it. BUT.... BE A NINJA! Again, you have to live near these people.

Absolutely, I'm not all about blowing in people but drinking and driving causes accidents that 1. usually hurts some innocent person
2. increases insurance rates. If the neighbor wants to drink he can stay home. I got a friend who is in the hospital with a broken neck, ribs, punctured lung and broken leg cuz of a drunk driver!

Remember that this is a person that you live by and bad neighbors make for a really rough home life. That said, if your neighbor is drunk and getting behind the wheel you may save a life with a phone call. If you are on good terms with your neighbor, maybe you could just sit down with them when they are sober and talk to them about your concerns.

Sassy Says....
Let me give you a senerio...Ok so you and your family are out playing on the grass out front of your house.. Ok and it is a beautiful day, your laughing, your family is laughing, life is good... Your watching a kitty cat play with a toy out in the middle of the street, aaahhh how cute...Then BAM..Your drunk a** nieghbor comes plowin down the street drunker than a mother f***er and he is laughing at the dillusional friend he has in his car as he throws out a Vodka bottle, that hits you in the face, then speeds over the cute kitty and blood splatters all over the family and kids are screeming and the family is crying,"No not the innocent kitty.." and you cant see anything because your alcoholic neighbor threw alcohol in your face and it is burning.... OK now I know that sounds stupid but just imagine that cute kitty is your baby or your sister... Of course you should report him but only when you see him driving otherwise it will not matter..The police cant do anything unless they catch him in the act.

Please do. It's best to call while he is driving. Report him as an incapacitated driver. Give location and what you observe. Is he weaving back and forth across the road? Unable to make turns properly? Does he stop in the intersection for a light or stop sign or does he stop before he actually reaches the intersection?

You could be saving someones life.

I wouldn't go that far. Can you offer your neighbor a ride instead?
I HATE anyone up in my business that I don't think belongs there, I'm assuming most of us are the same way. To much policing of each other going on in the world & not enough watching ourselves. If you say something to them & they want to be a jack ***, well, then they have it comming. (I'm sure they already know better)
