I always figured 20 to 21 per month...so between 240 and 252....

Typically 252 days, but it depends on when holidays fall and if it is a leapyear. Also 2001 had fewer days because the US market was closed after 9/11.

52 weeks plus a day gives us 261 weekdays in most years. Subtract nine NYSE holidays and you have 252.
