The beads are wooden and I was hoping to make a necklace and matching bracelet. I'm open to simple designs or more complicated designs, I just need to know what materials work best and where I can get them. Thanks!

As an artistic individual and one who retails costume jewelry I can say that there is not a lot to making a wonderful necklace that can easily be treasured by anyone. Most wooden beads that I know are rounded so depending on the size of the hole drilled into the bead, you could use anything from a piece of yarn to a piece of what I refer to as "fishing wire". Depending on where you reside you can go to a local bead shop or a place like Hungates Art Supplies or Michael's arts and crafts to get all the necessities that you need at a rather affordable price. Just make sure that whatever medium you chose to use for your beads, that it comfortable can fit over one's head and on one's wrist. Elastic bands are great for wrist bracelets because each individual's wrist is of a different size and it makes it more comfortable for anyone to wear. Some wooden beads even have letters on them to spell out special sayings and names which makes the necklace and bracelet more meaningful. It gets more challenging when links and hooks are used to change the length size of the necklace. That is where metal pieces get involved and pliers are needed. Try to use different sized wooden beads so that the necklace and bracelet don't seem so monotonous in appearance. There are a wide assortment of beads out there. Use your creativity and don't worry, I am sure that it will turn out great! Afterall that is what art and design are all about. Just remember that sometimes working with small beads be a challenge so please be patient. Jewelry is a great marketing business, especially that which is specially handcrafted and meaningful. Go to your local craft store and check out their beading display, if you have such near you. While hemp string or leather is cool with wood beads, they do rub and break. The size of hole in the bead may be an issue as well. Smaller holes can be hard to string unless you use a small, stiff wire, preferrably one coated with plastic. If you go that route, you'll want crimp beads (to secure the ends) and some kind of a catch (hook and clasp, etc.) to be able to put them on and take them off. Should be some simple books there as well. Don't be put off by *some* of the answers here -- there are a lot of options out there to choose from. Take your time and find the right one for you. Try checking sites like the ones below for ideas and free instructions, too. Have fun.

Hi, totus tous(totus tvvs) literally means=totally yours/ all yours. The Catholic Rosary Beads are in fact a devotion that when prayed recalls episodes of the life of Jesus from the Gospels, and are called mysteries, there are 50 beads which relate to the Hail Mary prayer and 5 beads relating to the Our Father. Their are many websites dedicated to this and you can do a search on the Rosary for more in depth info.

check out a beading website that has supplies. There are all kinds of wires, strings, etc., that you can use. Just start experimenting and if you can, go to some classes on beading in your area.

You can string the beads on different kinds of materials like leather or fabric cord. You could also attach clasps to the end or just tie a knot. Most cities have beading shops where you can go and get ideas, and even places like WalMart have the basic supplies.

String is key. Maybe Hemp string if they are wooden beads. This is found at any local craft store.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/pUEPI
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.
