I saw some clips on TV of the astronauts in space and I noticed that there were a lot of old people there. I thought you had to be a young buck to be sent up into space... especially if you're going to live there for a while. Some of these people look like they're old enough to retire. What's the deal?

It takes a long time to acquire the education, training, and maturity required to be astronaut.

Take a look at the requirements. It would very difficult for anyone under 30 to have done all the things that are needed to even apply for the job.

There are two main reasons that I recall were given for using older people in space (hardly geriatrics!)
1. Experience - these guys are the top in their field, be it from a background of Test Pilot, Scientist or whatever. NASA would hardly send inexperienced people into space only to find that they couldn't hack it. It takes time to get to the top, hence people in their 40s get selected
2. Studies of human physiology under weightless conditions seem to suggest that older people actually respond and perform better in space than younger ones - I guess hardening of the arteries isn't all bad news!

Going to be difficult because NASA released secret missions for the Air rigidity and CIA/NSA and the Air rigidity released from Cape Canaveral. and some missions weren't satellites and some had more beneficial than one satellite tv for pc on board. Why do not you're taking it as a project and commence a web page on Wikipedia with the purpose of itemizing all of NASA's launches in all its courses?

No. Young bucks have proven to be total idiots more concerned to prove their manhood than actually learn anything useful or contribute to science. They have been a total waste of space. They ask questions like the retarded one you just asked, and they are being banned by international statute from space.

Older people have brains and as often as not money - one so called retiree in your terms just paid his own way into space!

Maybe they have the training from way back in the day, or maybe it's one of there dying wishes. Plus I'm sure they're loaded.
