My future wife is against medical birth control (eg. the Pill) and I'm opposed to using condoms. What are some alternatives? I understand there's a method whereby the female monitors her body temperature to minimize the risk of pregnancy. How might I lower my sperm count (or make those little guys too sleepy to swim) safely and temporarily? Note: Any form of birth control that allows potential fertilization of the egg before making that egg unviable (as is the case with the Pill, for example) is not an option.

first you are confused, the pill suppresses ovulation, the morning after pill allows an egg to be fertilized and not allowed to implant but with the regular pill there is no egg...

you can try natural family planning, or other barrier methods like the sponge, diaphragm or spermicide (all of which are more effective when used in combination

Well, you guys don't want to sacrifice anything huh? you want to have all the fun without consecuences? That is too sad! this is the future and we should be taking advantage of technology!! Alright, there is nothing that will be 100% safe, she can do her fertility chart check every month but we are all different and things that we do every day change our bodies, like hard work or being expossed to the sun for a long time, things like that change your body temperatur and can change your cycle without you noticing. So I wouldn't recommend you that unless she is super regular with her cycles. I was on the birth control for 6.5 years I am perfectly healthy, I do not smoke because smoking is what can cause problems when you take the pill, I quit the pill because my husband and i were ready for a baby and got pregnant the first month i quit the pill. Never had any problems and my periods were very light, and most of all NO WORRIES!! My husband and I tried the withdrawl method for 7 months and it worked, but it was kind of frustrating, you just don't ejaculate inside of her. One of the things I know will slow down your sperms movility not the count is hot tubs, but you never know you might have very strong sperm and nothing will slow them down, taking hot baths is suppossed to slow them down. But hey really this is the year 2006 and technology is here. No birth control is a thing of the past.

The rythym method is terribly unreliable if you want to have sex for more than two or three times a month. My parent managed to concieve 4 oops using that method. Barrier methods are the best. You may try a female condom instead. They are much more expensive, but if you combine that with the ryhtym method you might be in luck. If you aren't ever planning on having kids look into a vasectomy.

Currently, I am on a BIrth Control Method Called NuvaRing. It as a flexible thin clear plastic ring insterted into the vagina and left for 21 days, after 21 days it is removed and the woman has her period. So far there have been no side effects, it is safe and effective. Should it slip out during intercourse or bowel movements, simply rinse with warm water and replace, as long as it is out for less than an hour, no harm done.

The Cervical Mucus Method, the Rythm Method, the ovulation methed, the basal temperature method, all of these methods have an over 80% success rate when followed properly and has no medical or chemical procedure in fact for most of these you don't have to even buy anything.Just google them one by one and read up on them
