Are you looking for help with summer school?

This sounds like assignment I would give to my high school physics students.

I wouldn't answer it but I can say that she will certainly need a protractor, and, of course, a variety of traffic cones. Two variables she needs to pay careful attention to are : the height, and size of the base.

This principle on which this experiment is based is found in all high school physics text books. Look under "stability" and /or "centre of gravity-centre of mass".

Hmm, what kind of procedure are you going to use to find the exact center of mass? Are you going to assume uniform density of the material and just use geometry to calculate the exact center? Are you going to perform experiments like poking a wire through it to see where it balances? Are you going to spin it while taking high speed photographs and then compare the photos to get the center?

The hard part is in finding where the center of mass is. After that, you just determine the angle from the center of mass to the edge you are going to tip it over.
