American and Foreign Soldiers operating in foreign soil must obey the laws of the foreign country. If they don’t, then the foreign country should be given maximum authority to punish the foreign soldiers for their misdeeds with respect to the foreign country’s laws and pay for their crimes in the foreign soil - NOT back home! Only then will foreign soldiers learn to behave ethically at all times in foreign lands. Any supports for my above view?

Your opening statement is correct - soldiers from another country should obey the laws of the country where they are stationed. However many crimes are committed by our soldiers against our soldiers (fighting stealing etc.) and they are handled the Uniform Code of Military Justice. As far as crimes committed by our soldiers against the people of that other country - they do not have Diplomatic Immunity as you suggest. Instead there are usually treaties or agreements with the other country as to how situations like this will be handled - and in most cases - but not all - they are handed over for a trial and punishment. The military does not take this lightly and justice is served.

On the other hand - to subject our soldiers to other country's laws would not necessarily be fair. Under Islamic Law you can have your hand cut off for stealing - or your eye put out for looking at a woman with her veil removed.

When dealing with a foreign nation, you could risk (nuclear) war if you did not allow a certain amount of diplomatic immunity. The foreign country might take it as a direct assault upon their nation. How would we negotiate with a country for our people, if they did nothing, when we just prosecute their diplomats?

That is TRUE poitics. Some toes are more sensitive then others, and the reults may be having ours or our representitive's toes chopped off....

AMEN!!! I agree. There should be no diplomatic immunity for anything other than a simple parking ticket. If you commit mayhem, you pay for it. You commit murder, you die. You rape, you go to jail. You sell drugs, you get deported. Simple. Too bad our government has to play patty-cake with so many devious people.

I don't think you have a working concept of diplomatic immunity.
