George Washington could have been king, but his actions prevented early civil war and strife in the early tax rebellions, and he stablized the transfer of power.

Jefferson doubled the size of America without firing a single shot.

teddy Roosevelt was a tough SOB who would box with foreign dignataries. He gave us nationalized pparks, and also government oversight of the marketplace.

Ronnie defeated USSR.

Truman dropped the bomb, and FDR beat Hitler. There are plenty to choose from.

Myself, I go with GW....George Washington.

BUSH!? LMFAO! Have you looked at his approval ratings? For Christ-sake, have you heard the man talk? He's a babbling idiot in a suit!

How about FDR during the Depression and World War II Washington for being the first President of the US? Lincoln and his Emancipation Proclamation and Gettysburg Address? Reagan and Reaganomics and his part in the Cold War coming to an end?

You need to go study history before you say that George Bush, either Junior or Senior, are the best ANYTHING. Maybe the best in making the whole world hate Americans and the United States.

Reagan in the modern era. Lincoln is seen as a hero today, but at the time did not look as strong of a leader. JFK did not do anything, nor had time to be a great president. FDR was a great president. George Washington will always be seen as one of the greats. And to the idiots that tout Clinton's economy, it was inherited from Reagan, and our economy is stronger today than it was when Clinton left office. Learn your facts. Clinton wasn't a bad president, but only time can tell what damage he has done to the presidency. Judging from Bush's numbers, no one trusts a president anymore, thanks to slick willie.

Abraham Lincoln, because before his administration, the United States was a collection of states, and there was the belief that states could secede from the Union, but during Lincoln's term, which was the Civil War, the United States became a real nation where it was understood that no state had the option of opting out, and slavery was abolished. Under a lesser president, the country would have broken apart.

I'd have to go with Lincoln. He saved the Union.
Washington would also be a good choice for how he handled being the first president and for setting a precident of 2 terms.
FDR helped bring the country through the Depression and WWII.
The current president would be way down the list in my opinion.

In my opinion the greatest President in my Lifetime is Ronald Reagan, I don't think President Bush can hold a Candle to the greatness of Ronald Reagan but President Bush certainly is a lot greater than his Dad and major greater than Jimmy Carter (worst President ever) and Bill Clinton (2nd worst President ever, only thing that makes Clinton better than Carter is that Clinton at least knew how to Lead inspite of being a bad Leader).

Im 38 and ive seen how Jimmy Carter put us in a terrible recession... Ronald Regean took this country into the 80's with huge growth in the enconomy and it wasnt thru welfare it was thru commercial growth. He might have been an excellent actor but he was a better president... im sorry i think George W Bush has left the the US in the dust. He is more worried about himself than the welfare of the country... and i would vote for satan if he was running on the replubican ticket.

In my opinion I would much rather have Clinton back. Bush came in and all our jobs went out. Clinton might be an idiot and a cheater, but our economy was at it's best, which is a lot more than I can say for Bush. Besides, I don't really care who the president screws (wife, intern etc) as long as he can do his job and improve the economy.
