I mean without saying: fire, terminate, sack, let go, retrench, etc.

We've decided to take the company into a different direction, and unfortunately, I don't think you'd be a good fit in the new environment.

Personally though, i think you should just come out and say it. I, for one, would appreciate the lack of bullcrap.

When I was fired they tried to tell me, that I would be better in another postition and the hours I requested wern't avail. The told me I wasn't working out, they followed me around constantly. I couldn't to anything without be watched,
I was working as a CNA and they even came into the resident'r room with me to be sure I was doing it right. I passed every test! But I still got "let go"

This is not a good way, but twice I've been fired from donut shops.

First time, my manager saw my sister (she worked in the same mall) and told her to tell me not to come in any more.

Second time, manager called me like 20 minutes before my shift, to tell me not to come in that day, but come in the next day. OK.
I worked that day, then somebody else said SHE'd seen the schedule and I wasn't on it. I got a message to call the manager and she tells me: "You can come in on Friday to get your cheque." OK, like ONLY for the cheque? I had to ask her outright if I was fired, she would not have told me.

So, yeah, I went back to school after that.

Your position is being eliminated. Maybe your department is being eliminated. If you do that you don't risk the possibility of a suit. If you do replace the person, make sure you retitle the position and the duties for the position, or you could be in hot water.

Your postion is no longer required at this company.

We have found someone else that we feel will be more suited to your postion.

We feel you are overqualified for this postion.
