Ok. My best friend in the entire world is a guy. I am really good friends with his sister, too...but, somehow I'm not as close with her than I am with him. People kinda look down on us because we're best friends...and we're opposite genders. It makes us feel bad. But we never let that stop us from being friends. Well, a few weeks ago he told me he "likes" me. Now I'm worried that it's gonna get out, and our friendship will stop because of our parents or something. Can anyone offer words that will help ease my fear? I don't want to loose my BEST friend. Thanks.

My best friend in all the world growing up was female (I'm male). She was closer to me than anybody, even my own sister. We discussed at one time becomming "more than friends". It was a hard decision, but we eventually decided that we didn't want to lose what we had. we're both married now to other people and are very happy with our spouses and because we still have our friendship. There are things that happen during the course of your life that you only want to share with a best friend. Now, having said all that, best friends sometimes make the best lovers, but the relationship will change. Don't let anybody tell you it won't. Once you become "more than just friends", you can't go back and the interaction between the 2 of you will always be different. You are just going to have to decide if what you might have outweighs what you have now.

Some of my best friends are girls. I have one guy close friend and two girl friends. I love them all dearly. Anyway, my girl friends and I go out and we hang out on occasion. However, we never took it to the next level but they are cute girls. But, I do remember having a conversation with one of them and I asked her would she be afraid of being involved in a relationship with her good friend and she said, "no". I naturally asked, "why" and she said, "obviously if it went their then it must be special and mean something" and that is not to be taken lightly. All I'm saying is to think about it, talk to him and do what you want because people will always talk and you can never appease everyone. Make yourself happy and everything else should fall into place. I hope I helped and good luck to you I'm sure you'll be just fine.

There is nothing wrong with dating your best friend. People always say that they are afraid that they will ruin their friendship if they become a couple and then break up, but that's not always true. I dated my best friend and two years later we got married, and we have been happily married for almost six months. If we would have never decided to become more than friends, neither one of us would be happily married. I think that you should go for it. If you are as close as you say you are, then not too much will change.

I am going through the same thing just opposite... WHO CARES if other people look down on you, they arent your best friend. I like my best friend that is a boy and my parents don't know. Look, if he is your best friend he will understand that you don't want to lose your best friend because of an argument in a relationship or something like that.

When one has a Best Friend of the opposite sex it is very spooky to allow sexual interest to enter into the relationship. You would both have to be so interested in each other sexually that you would be willing to loose your best friend should the relationship end. Most often when that interest arises it is best to put it down and continue the friendship... best friends are very very hard to find.

Dont fear! as you are already goodfriends and you guys know one annother good! Then i would say go for it if you realy love him and he loves you! There is a very big differance between like and love i know both are 4 letter words but the real meaning behind it is some what of a huge differance!

who cares what people say! He's your best bud - no reason to let that go! I've always been friends with more guys than girls- they are easier to talk to and aren't always talking about "girly" stuff. As for him "liking" you, how do you feel? If you don't feel the same, it's best to let him know that gently and tell him you still wanna be best friends cuz he's awesome. Good luck!

My husband was one of my best friends in High school and 10 years later he is still my best friend... I just let it flow and everything fell into place... it's funny how the world works... Just make sure you always tell him the truth... it's when you don't that you will loose him.
