In club teams the play is often geared towards the SUPER star. Several Nationalteams have more than one star (Brasil, France, Argentina, even the Portugese actors), so the play has to be geared towards a collective. Which one is better ? Depends on the player. I think for example that Riquelme is better in the Argentinian team, Emerson for Juventus, Ballack for Munich, Barthez for neither team (he's just lucky to play behind a solid defense), Crouch for Liverpool, ...

You know that's a wonderful question !!!

Frankly i think the myth of players playing better for club than country is more applicable for European players than South Americans..no disrespect, its just a trend. I'll add a few more to the list
Juve Delpiero or Italy Del Piero
Roma Totti or Italy Totti
Arsenal Henry or France HEnry
Chelsea Lampard or England LAmpard
Barca Ronaldinho or Brazil Ronaldinho..

And for your questions...
Emerson is good for both..
Riquelme is good for both..
Portugal Pauleta
Real MAdrid Raul..
France Barthez
Perotta has been good in both..
Czech Koller
Germany Odonker
Crouch is BAD for both..
Arsenal Van Persie

He wants to know if the player is better at his national team or club.
I can only say something about Emerson here, and it won't help much. He plays a much more defensive role in Brazil than in Juventus, so it's very hard to compare.

I think in Juventus, because in there he plays where he is better, they thought where he would be better used before hiring him, while in Brazil he was just filling a position, because he was also good in there and Parreira wanted him on the team.
