Most of my study of baseball has been of the modern era...Here are some catchers and their single season best...
Mike Piazza - 1997
GP-152 BA-362 OB%-432 SLG-638 HR-40 A-74
Roy Campanella -1953
GP-144 BA-312 OB%395 SLG-611 HR-41 A-57
Walker Cooper - 1947
GP-140 BA-305 OB%-339 SLG-586 HR-35 A-51
Johnny Bench - 1970
GP-158 BA-293 OB%-351 SLG-587 HR-45 A-73
Javy Lopez - 2003
GP-129 BA-328 OB%378 SLG-687 HR-43 A-53
Ivan Rodriguez - 1999
GP-144 BA-332 OB%-356 SLG-558 HR-35 A-80
Yogi Berra - 1950
GP-151 BA-322 OB%-383 SLG-533 HR-28 A-64
Elston Howard - 1961
GP-129 BA-348 OB%387 SLG-549 HR-21 A-43
The "A" stands for catcher Assists...
I did not rank them in any order...
Bill Dickey and Mickey Cochrane are recognized as the best 2 catchers of the early era of baseball....
Maybe the most amazing number was, Berra hitting 28HR and he only struck out 12 times...

If your talking about hitting catchers, Mike Piazza is probably at the top of the list. Overall your list could include Johnny Bench, Yogi Berra, Bill Dickey, and Roy Campanella.
PS Carlton Fisk was overrated. He wasn't even the best of his era. I would take Gary Carter over Fisk hands down.

Johnny Bench. I'm a die hard Reds fan and I got to watch him play and he did things that I have not see any catcher do since then.
