you should be good with a few hundred. (less if you don't plan on gambling at all).
what's great about las vegas is everything is right there. and if you had the money to venture out towards lake mead and the hoover damn its just a hop skip and a jump away too.

It really depends on how much you like to gamble. There are hotels and motels that can run you anywhere from $10-$300 a night. These will be cheaper the closer you get to downtown (the original part before they put in all the huge casinos). I went for my 21st Bday and had a blast and all I brought was $200 for gambling over a four day period. But I enjoyed the shows and whatnot more than I did the gambling. The gambling is fun, and you get free drinks while you gamble, but the shows are a lot more fun and if you get time, go check out downtown (the old part), there's some very cool things down there.

I've done Vegas on zero dollars a day and a hundred dollars a day and almost anything in between. I had more fun on the hundred dollars a day. =)
If your meals are not included in your trip expenses already alotted for, and you're going to gamble, plan to bring enough to average $200 a day. I say this amount because I don't know if you're going to gamble or not and if you're just going to eat at the buffets vs the fancier restaurants. If you're planning on having a separate "allowance" for gambling and one for meals and other entertainment, then your gambling allotment should be an amount that you can afford to lose. (In other words, allow enough to amuse yourself but wouldn't bankrupt you if you lose it.)
Enjoy your trip!

My grandmother lives in Vegas. I went to visit for a few days a couple of years ago and spent a fortune. I also had free room and board, free transportation, and some free food. Vegas is an expensive city. Plan on spending a lot.

I live in Vegas and there are a TON of things you can do for free. At the Flamingo, they have a free zoo or you can go to the shows on the strip like TI (Treasure Island) or Bellagio. Try joining one of the players clubs at the casinos and sometimes you get a free meal.

The great thing about Vegas is that most everything aside from gambling is cheap because they want to encourage you to spend your money on the slots or card tables, etc.
Cabs are very expensive though so it's good to use the trolley if you are able to find one.

Money goes pretty fast in Vegas.
So many way to spend the money.
Dont gamble, spend your money on shows, rides, and food.
You will need approx. 100 dollar per day of stay.
The cheapest way to get around is a day pass on the bus.
