I know the feeling. I have too many projects started but always find new ones that I just can't wait to begin. This is a tip from my friend who is much more driven to finish projects than I am. She has me pick one project to complete. I have to work on it first for an hour or so. Then I put it aside and I can do whatever I want to work on. You would be surprised how fast you finish a quilt if you dedicate time to it each and everytime you sit down to sew.
Also to get the juices boiling again try projects that can be done in one sitting. Like a small banner or a set of placemats. The feeling of completion gives you the impetus to tackle that large seeming insurmountable pile of unfinished projects.
Good luck and enjoy your quilting.

Try smaller projects, and get yourself a quilter's bible: a notebook where you record the date you begin and finish the project, who it's going to be for (if it's a gift or for someone other than yourself), what the pattern is, scraps of the fabric you used, where you bought the fabric (if you want), photos of the work in progress and finally the photo of the finished work. Just the motivation to fill in the final lines may give you the extra boost you are looking for.
A simple journal from a dollar store would be sufficient, but they do make quilt journals specifically for this purpose. I found some in WalMart.
And don't feel like you're along: I started 3 quilts for my grandsons for Christmas, 2004. Maybe I'll get them done for this year! LOL

I have the same problem! The REAL problem seems to be that STARTING on a new project is the part that's the most fun. Then I get bogged down and eventually put it away. It's hard to pick it up after that point -- it just isn't as fun as it was when first starting it.
What helps me is to use the "fun" project -- something I enjoy working on, or getting to start a new project -- as the reward for working on (or better yet, completing!) a project that has become less fun. That kind of motivation is the only thing that works for me sometimes!

Pick the one project out of your unfinished projects that is the farthest along and finish it. It's a great feeling and always helps me get motivated to get the rest in gear and a great kickstart!
If you don't like the way the project was turning out, don't spend the time on it and either take it to a UFO night at your quilt shop or if you don't want to just give it up finish it and donate it to your guild or other chartiable organization.

Only work on one at a time. Don't even think about starting another one until you have finished the first. Just remember that your children, grandchildren, etc can get these quilts. If nothing else, make it for them!
I did not know my greatgrandmother, but was lucky enough to receive 2 quilts that she had made. I'm so glad that I have them.

I have found that just doing one project at time works best for me. I do not allow my self to start a new one until my current one is done.

Limit yourself to just a couple projects at a time. Reward yourself when you do finish. That will motivate you to get them done.

Do you make them for friends/family? If so, have a deadline set for when you need to get the project done . . . so you can gift it!

Perhaps you could donate quits when you finish them. Knowing they're going to a good cause could give you the push you need to keep at it.
