It is a better solution. You need not worry about sleeping with married men, or bi men who are confused. You don't have to worry about drug addicts, or people with diseases. It is a safer decision.
However ever it may not be the right one for you. Many do chose discreet encounters. This if done carefully and safely can be a good decision. It can help you in your younger years determine what sexual preferences you have, what fetishes you might enjoy. This in turn may help you realize that certain types of people are not for you.
Would you want to meet a man and fall in love with him. Then only to find out he loves bondage. If you have never tried it before and you do with him. Then you discover his biggest fetish is something you can't stand. Then you will have a problem later on in life.
So not sleeping around has it's place, but so does going out and experimenting and finding out about your sexual interests.

While indeed it is safer it is also a lot less satisfying and lacks any intimacy .. of course just sleeping around is a more dangerous form of masturbation so find a good alternative somewhere in the middle like a good F%$# buddy that you know and trust until the right one cums along

i think it is better to masterbate than to sleep around. After it is over you have the same satisfied feeling. So why bother with sleeping around. You know your body better than anyone else.

I've had a partner for almost 15 years and I never did the sleeping around thing -- but I would not be afraid to do it if I wanted to, safely of course. Do as you will.

when you consider that masturbation is better than...pretty much anything, masturbation wins. Masturbation should be manditory education in elementary, junior and high school. There should be clubs in every town to get with others and pound one out.
Sleeping around is for when you're ready for it, and you're doing it for your mutual pleasure. Precautions need to be taken, like condoms, and making sure no one is getting hurt by it (like the other person's spouse, maybe)
Each has it's place, and it's benefits.

Masturbation is better..... that way you don't have to worry about broken hearts, diseases, unhappy wives or husbands. With masturbation you're always with someone you love and you know what you like.
