Because a repairo spell would require a wand. A better question would be why didn't Harry or Hermione do it for him?

Because like Doot said, you can't point a wand at the same wand. But then again, it was split in two so he could have used a mirror or something to reflect it back on the wand. Furthermore, so what if his parents would "kill him" if he asked for a wand. Surely his parents would see that he NEEDED a new wand. Of course, a new wand would mean grounded for like, the rest of the year, but... still.

a) He didnt have a wand to do the spell
b) He's so bad at spells it would probably backfire and break ti outright --if it didnt break him!
c) Harry n Hermy could have done it for him -- BUT...
i) IT WAS A CONSPIRACY!! They just wanted to make fun of his broken wand! lol
ii) You can't do magic on a wand unless your a very advanced wizard and Hermy was too bugged with Ron or busy with her own stuff to go and learn how
iii) JK Rowling overlooked it...

You can't point your wand at itself. It was probably protected too - so that only Spellotape would work.
